Bites or stings from bugs are a very common thing that we have to face periodically. If you are not living atop a hill, you have every chance of getting bitten or stung at least a few times in your lifetime. Some of the stings don’t cause any irritation or infection, but some other may result in burning sensations, itching or swelling. To treat them, there are various options: some include medicinal cures, and some others are simple home remedies. In this article, we have discussed some basic insect bite home remedies, have a look at it.
1. The first thing you should do after getting a bite or a sting is to scrape away the stinger. You can do that with a sterilized needle or spatula. Don’t do that using your fingernail as this may cause infections. You can also take the stinger out using a sharp blade or the tip of a knife.
2. As you get the stinger out, clean the area with clean and pure water. Then soak the area of the skin in apple cider vinegar. Soak a cotton ball in vinegar and gently apply them over the affected area of the skin.
3. After that, you can apply some antiseptic liquid over it. It will clean the area and nullify the chances of spreading any infection in your skin or muscle.
4. As soon as you got stung, your skin will swallow up, and it will become inflamed. To avoid that, just make a paste using meat tenderizer powder and warm water and apply it gently over the skin. This will break the enzymes containing the venom and will prevent further infection.
5. You can also apply a little layer of toothpaste or thick sugar water over the infected or stung skin as they will also act as antiseptics and soothe the part of the skin that was stung and give you some relief.
6. Apply an ice pack to the area that will somewhat numb the sensations of the skin and will give you some relief. Ice will also counteract the venom from spreading.
7. If you have papaya at your disposal, then simply apply a slice of papaya over your skin. Papaya contains a natural enzyme that nullifies the effects of the venom very much.
8. If your skin is getting swelled too much, then you can apply a slice of onion over the stung region. Onions are believed to contain some enzymes that prevent the skin from swallowing.
9. You can also use tea tree oil to overcome the swelling. You will need to apply that over the infected area a couple of times in the day.
10. Mix some baking soda with a gentle skin lotion and apply the paste to the skin. This will give you relief from the itching sensation. You can also apply the baking soda mixed with some water; this will have almost the similar effect.
